It’s time for the 25th annual Frank Stark Celebration Ride! This year’s event will be held rain or shine on 7/13/14. The ride starts and ends at Boca Raton City Hall, located at 201 W Palmetto Park Rd, Boca Raton FL 33432. Participants will enjoy a fun, healthy, scenic ride along the Atlantic Coast. To ensure the safety of the participants, all riders need to wear helmets. Registration is $40 in advance and $50 on day of race. Registration opens at 6am on 7/13. The 62-mile riders begin at 7am and the 30-mile riders begin at 8am. Lunch will be served from 10:30am–1pm at Boca Raton City Hall. The proceeds of the event will benefit many national charities and bicycle advocacy groups. Please read the event rules prior to participation.
Frank Stark was a former member of the Boca Raton bicycle club. He was an airline pilot but was forced to retire because of quadruple by-pass heart surgery and two heart attacks. As an effort to regain his health, Stark took up cycling. Every year on his birthday, Stark celebrated the day by riding one mile for each year of his life. Each year more and more riders decided to join him. Stark passed in 1999 due to heart failure. The Frank Stark Celebration Event is held in his memory and has had upwards of 700 riders in recent years.
